Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Each PNP has different streams (categories) designed to target specific groups, such as skilled workers, semi-skilled workers, business/investor immigrants, and international graduates. Some common streams include:
Skilled Worker: For individuals with experience in occupations that are in demand in the province.
International Graduate: For recent graduates from a post-secondary institution in the province.
Business/Investor: For individuals with business experience and the intention to invest a business in the province.
Semi-Skilled Worker: For individuals with experience in lower-skilled occupations that are in high demand in that specific province.
The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in Canada allows provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and settle in a particular province. Each province and territory has its own PNP that is tailored to meet its specific economic and demographic needs
Streams:
Application Process:
There are two main pathways to apply through the PNP:
Express Entry Stream: Candidates can apply through a province's Express Entry stream. If nominated, they receive an additional 600 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), virtually guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
Non-Express Entry Stream: Candidates apply directly to the province. If nominated, they apply for permanent residence through the regular process
Requirements:
Each province and territory sets its own criteria for the streams, which can include work experience, education, language proficiency, and a job offer from a provincial employer.
Nominees must show a genuine intention to live in the province that nominates them.
Participating Provinces and Territories:
Most Canadian provinces and territories participate in the PNP. These include:
Alberta
British Columbia
Manitoba
New Brunswick
Newfoundland and Labrador
Northwest Territories
Nova Scotia
Ontario
Prince Edward Island
Saskatchewan
Yukon
Quebec does not participate in the PNP. It has its own immigration programs.
